Where Has The Summer Gone?
Amazingly it's been over a month since I "blogged". We had the good fortune to meet someone at a show we did "Paws for Cancer" who suggested we get in touch with her friend who owned a Pet Boutique in Smithville, NJ called Paw Dazzle. She thought our doggie couture would be right up her alley! And sure enough it was. We now have our "One of a Kind K9 Couture" in her store.
In just a few weeks our handmade items will also appear in consignment at YHD, Toms River, NJ (Your Hearts Desire Crafts Boutique) at the Silverton First Aid building, 86 Maine St. from Oct. 19-28th, Mon-Thurs. & Sat. 10 am to 5 pm, Fri. 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday Noon to 5 pm. then Fri., Sat. & Sun. in November.
In addition, we'll be showing at Bay Head Country Accents Boutique, in Opdyke Furniture Store, Highway 35, Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ from Oct. 24th to Dec. 9th every day from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Sun. 10 am to 5 pm. On Oct. 24th they will have their traditional Wine & Cheese kick off from 5 to 7:30 pm, the $12 admission goes to Provident House, a home for battered women, along with 10% of the sales for the evening. It's a pleasure being associated with them.
And of course, we are currently working on a new christening gown, look for pictures soon!
Who said I retired????

Wedding Gown to Christening Gown
Our newest customer brought her wedding dress to us a couple of weeks ago requesting it be turned into a Christening gown for her new daughter. The dress had not been cleaned after the wedding years ago and it was evident that she had a great time that day! After carefully de-constructing the gown, we were able to use the front part, that was a panel of lace, appliques, beads and sequins as the front part of the gown, the bodice front & back and the back of the bonnet. The rest of the gown was bridal satin which we used for the back of the dress and the puffly sleeves as well as a jacket and the rest of the bonnet. Carefully removing some of the extra appliques, they were hand sewn onto the jack & the bonnet for a cohesive look. The tricky part of cutting out the Christening dress was trying avoide the stains on the dress. Of course, after we started de-constucting the wedding gown, I realized I should have taken a "before" picture. Duh! So, here's the after picture, which really don't give it justice. We're so proud of how it came out and best of all mom was thrilled. She'll be coming back with baby in a few weeks to make sure it fits for her special day.Tuesday, August 31, 2010
Some Recent "Doings"
I have been fascintated with following this blog http://newdressaday.wordpress.com. What a creative way to recycle clothing. Being as close as I am to a Thrift Shop, it really got my creative juices going. She's very talented and I hope this leads to something new & exciting for her.
With all the online researching we have been doing, trying to find venues to sell our products as well as places to purchase what we need to make our products, we've come across some websites you might find interesting. We'd love to hear from you with your favorite sites.
http://pursepatterns.com/free_bag_patterns.html some great free purse patterns!
www.FaveCrafts.com - some interesting craft items to make, some sewing, some not, some a little crazy.
Our newest venture is "Create Your Own Pocketbook", which is not quite off the launchpad, we're gathering samples, making prototypes, etc. We still need a name for it, so if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment! It would be a home party event with host incentives.
Next up: The Cinderella Costume for my granddaughter Nora. It's almost complete and will put up pictures when it's done before it's delievered to Maryland. I plan on placing it in our webshop soon.
