Final Posting

With much thought and prayer I have decided to totally retire. Angie will continue in our fine tradition of custom made christening gowns, rompers, teddy bears, tree skirts, bibs, shoes, ornaments, etc. I will certainly miss the joy I see on the faces of our moms and grandmoms when they see their dreams come true but I moved quite a distance away from Angie and the commute was getting tough! Please continue to use the link to the website to contact her. I have every confidence Angie can make whatever you need from your wedding gown. I am so happy to have been a part of so many special days. Here's our final order done togethe for a friend of my daughter's, Stacy for her baby Tiffany Rose. May God bless you all.

 

For Claire

Our newest mommy came to us with a gown that was elegant and understated. It was made of silk dupioni with a white satin underlay, quite beautifully made with a pleated skirt. We chose to make baby's gown the same way, with a pleated skirt and to give it a little interest, used the white satin for the sleeve band, the waistband, sash and shoes. The bonnet was also created with pintucks and we embellished the brim with the white satin as well. We usually advise ties for small babies so it can be pulled in if necessary and still be big enough for a sister who might be bigger. God bless! 

 
 
 

Saving Grace

Grace brought us her mother's gown, wanting to include her memory into this special day for her daughter. The gown was in pretty good shape, just a little discolored but it gave the christening outfit even more dimension. We used the bottom of the gown for the sleeves and placed some of the sweet little flowers on the bodice. We often, when we can, remove appliques and move them around. Many times we have to re-apply appliques, beading and sequins. We try to keep to the design of the gown when we can. Grace also ordered a diaper cover, shoes and headband to complete the look! The memento pillow is for her. It has her parents names and wedding date embroidered on the back along with the ribbon from their ring bearer pillow.

Little Mille's Gown

Mom sent us her gown from Arizona a month ago requesting we make Millie's christening gown a miniature wedding gown. We made a few adjustments so it would be more appropriate for a baby than for a woman. The ruching was used to create the bodice, the flowers were trimmed down to a smaller size. The flowers mom used in her hair were used on a headband for Millie. The layers were trimmed down to a smaller size. And here's what mom said when she opened the box: 

"The gown was just delivered to my door! I absolutely LOVE it!! It is not exactly what I had envisioned, it's way better! In my church when a baby is born they are given a blessing at church in front of the entire congregation. In this blessing the child is also "officially" given her name. This gown is what she will be blessed in, and hopefully her daughters. Millie will have three white dresses during her life, her baby blessing dress, her baptism dress (at age 8) and her wedding dress. What a wonderful treasure to be able to have this! Thank you times one hundred. There's no way I would have been able to do it myself the way you two women worked your magic. 

Olivia

From beautifully adorned gown and veil we created a christening gown, bonnet and shoes. Mom wanted the bottom of the skirt to be used with it's satin band and appliques and the beadwork in the gown bodice for babie's bodice. We used the veil  and decorative beadwork to create sheer decorative sleeves.

 

We tried something new, adorning the covered satin buttons with beads & "bling". Mom decided on ballet type shoes, which we adorned with beading from the veil. We also used the beaded bodice to create the bonnet.

Jessica's Dream

Jessica came to us with a wish to create not only a beautiful one of a kind gown for her daughter's upcoming christening, but also, in the hopes of a son someday, a boy's romper and hat. Jessica's gown was organza with flower appliques and beading over a white lining type material. Because there was no satin, we had to supplement fabric for the bodice and for the boy's romper. We used the organza overlay on the vest of the romper so it would all be tied in to mom's gown. Mom ordered the bonnet in our open back style, the back closes with a ribbon so it can be adjusted to baby's head. For the boy's hat, she chose the newsboy style. Of course baby had to have matching shoes with the christening date embroidered on the sole of the shoe. We sent extra fabric home with mom so when the time comes, the boy's shoe can be made.

                                    

 

 

       

Newest Wedding Gown Conversion

Our newest creation was designed and made for baby Annabelle and her mom Carly. Carly requested that we try to use only the long train on the back of the dress and leave the main dress intact. We're happy to report we were able to accomodate her. She also wanted the sheer, appliqued overlay used on the christening gown bottom and we were able to remove more appliques to tie it all together. Several appliques were hand sewn onto the bonnet and the bodice of the gown. Many times we have to work around dirty and stained areas of the gown and in this case we had to move up the train to get good fabric but this meant the long swoop of the train overlay would not lay straight on the skirt. We were able to work around this by pulling up the top of the overlay skirt and create an upsweep in the back, sort of a "princess" look.

Sweet Ashley

Our latest customer, brought us her gown that had been thrown into a black garbage bag and stored who knows where! Trying to find clean fabric to use for the gown was quite a challenge. We usually tell people to get the christening gowns cleaned after we work on them, rather than before, but this one was a doozy! After undoing the bustling and de-construction, we were able to find a good amount without stains. We also like to use bead work from the gown to decorate baby's gown, but we found this bead work to be rather clunky for a wee baby. Fortunately, mom brought along her veil, cathedral length, decorated in very delicate bead work all the way around, which I carefully cut around and placed on the hat, jacket and the bottom of the gown. I used silver embroidery thread to hand sew it all on. We did find some larger bead work from the bodice to use on the bodice of the gown to tie it all together and the back of the wedding gown became the back of the christening gown. Mom was very happy with the results and hopefully we'll receive pictures of baby in her gown.

 

 

 

Soft and Sweet

Our newest customer came to us not knowing whether she was having a boy or girl so asked us to create an outfit for a girl and a boy. She brought along photos for us to use as samples of what she would like. We love different and this time instead of a bonnet, we created a headband and the boys bonnet was actually a little cap. The boy's outfit was topped off with a jacket, all trimmed with satin ribbon. So adorable!!! Mom's gown was ruched up both sides so we had to undue all the stitching. The outer fabric was a very soft satin--lots of it once the ruching was taken out. The under fabric was a stiffer satin, and there was less of it so we had to purchase lining for the gown. Mom will find out whether a boy or girl on Sept. 18th, can't wait to find out which outfit will be worn first!
