We are always looking to add to our product selections and this new shoe style can be used as a boy's shoe or "glammed" up for a girl. We think it would look adorable with a little cross embroidered on the toe for a christening shoe. We think they are just adorable!

We're currently working on a new christening gown, bonnet and shoes using a wedding gown that has rows of clear beading on it. We like to use these on baby's gown and hand sew them on by hand. We've "borrowed" the idea from another gown of placing several small beads on the covered buttons to add a little glam. We've also created little flowers for the custom shoes using the large and small beads.
Sometimes we're just asked to make things in special colors, such as this vest and tie to match the bridal party....
or a pair of christening shoes with the date embroidered on the bottom.
Mom and Grand mom came to us with grand mom's gown (can you say hello to the 70s?) to have a christening gown, bonnet and shoes made along with a bib. The bib was made from new materials except for the lace, which came from grand mom's veil. The gown was very yellowed and we tried to whiten it a bit with good ole OxiClean. I think they were surprised to see it became a creamy ivory color! The shoes had the christening date embroidered on the bottom. We're happy to report that the family was well pleased with the results...
2014 has begun! This look was created, along with matching shoes with date embroidered on the bottom, an embroidered bib with terry cloth backing and to keep Victoria warm, a curly minky jacket lined with mom's gown. The gown was designed with ties in the back to ensure a good fit, although when we tried it on her, it fit perfectly! Mom was thrilled that the dress followed the design of her gown. We can't wait for pics of Victoria from her special day.
Our favorite part of creating these one of a kind outfits is seeing the expression on Mom's face when they see them for the first time. We
had a great time with Kristi's gown, even though the beads and sequins were flying all over the place. The bottom of the gown had such wonderful lacework while the top had beautiful beadwork. We agreed with mom that with all this going onto the bottom of the gown, less was more on the top. She also wanted just some small trimwork on the bonnet and of course the shoes finished it all off. Mom was also included in a You Tube video we are trying to put together, stay tuned!

Jessica came to us with a wish to create not only a beautiful one of a kind gown for her daughter's upcoming christening, but also, in the hopes of a son someday, a boy's romper and hat. Jessica's gown was organza with flower appliques and beading over a white lining type material. Because there was no satin, we had to supplement fabric for the bodice and for the boy's romper. We used the organza overlay on the vest of the romper so it would all be tied in to mom's gown. Mom ordered the bonnet in our open back style, the back closes with a ribbon so it can be adjusted to baby's head. For the boy's hat, she chose the newsboy style. Of course baby had to have matching shoes with the christening date embroidered on the sole of the shoe. We sent extra fabric home with mom so when the time comes, the boy's shoe can be made.
Mom's gown came to us as lace covered satin, with silver embelishments, including little silver faux buttons. Instead of doing the "usual" with the lace on the bottom, we placed the lace on the bodice, with just the lace on the puffy sleeves. Since the bottom would be a little plain compared to the bodice, the beautiful silver trim from her veil became the silver trim on the bottom of the dress. This was handstitched on with invisible thread! The bonnet had the lace trim and the shoes were done in lace covered satin with the date of the christening embroidered on the bottom.
Mom found us on our Facebook page: One Of A Kind Christening Creations and contacted us to create this christening gown from her beautiful lace and beaded wedding gown. We used the appliqued waist decoration on
the bodice of the gown. We felt between the beautiful beading and lace on the bottom and the bodice decoration the bodice itself should be plain. We used the type of sleeve we call "bell".
The bonnet was made with an open back, great for growing baby to make sure it is sized correctly. It can be adjusted by opening up the ribbon in the back. Also give more ventilation for the summertime. The shoes were embroidered with the date of the baby's Christening.
Boys need Christening shoes too! These little lace up shoes can be decorated with pearls from mom's gown and can also have the christening date embroidered on the sole of the shoe. The ribbon laces can also be any color desired.
Anyone who knows me knows I love SHOES! That's my thing. So, small wonder I decided to create & hand make shoes to match our gowns or for anyone else who wants cute, cute shoes!!! The date of the christening can be embroidered on the bottom of the shoe, something I'll be doing for our next customer.

So, it's been a loooong, cold, snowy winter here in NJ, but I'm thankful I don't live in Boston. Keeping busy during our "down" season means creating items to sell at our local Craft Boutique "Your Hearts Desire". We like to try new things and see how they fly so we made quilted table runners and baskets to add to our usual customer favorites. It's also a little break from all things baby. .jpg)
