Diane-Part II

We love having our mommies return to us. Diane had moved out of state and shipped what was left of her gown to create a boy's vested romper for her new son, a tie that he can wear on his 1st communion day and a veil for her daughter to use on her 1st communion day.  The veil was created out of mom's wedding veil. Basically all the satin was used, but there's still some of the lace overlay left that can be incorporated into a pillow or Christmas ornament. The satin was buttery soft and made a beautiful outfit for her son. Here's what she had to say about her new creation:
You've done it again - another beautiful creation! My son's gown exceeded my husband and my expectations and the veil and tie are just perfect. I have several years before they make their 1st Communion, but I'm excited to have these for them. Thank you for creating beautiful treasures for them. We will send pictures after the Baptism!
 

 

A Returning Mommy!

A customer that we had made a romper for from her wedding gown 2 years ago returned to us with the remnants of what was leftover. We had tried to save as much as we could. She had imagined we would be making a gown for a daughter. Instead she had another son so we made a different romper but with a detachable skirt for "when" she has her daughter. We also created a boys "Messenger" cap and a bonnet. We did have to supplement the skirt with satin material for the underskirt. The overlay was from her gown. There's not much left but the bodice and the overlay! A special medal was sewin into the outfit. Today we spoke to another one of our mommies who will be sending the remainder of her gown for a romper to be made for her brand new son. We love you all! 

 

Chicago Bound

Our newest mom contacted us with a request for a specific looking romper with a detachable skirt. She sent her gown ups with 2 shamrocks representing twins she had lost. Mom wanted them to be a part of this very special day. Unfortunately, something happened to the package, which was shipped UPS between Chicago and my home in NJ. Fortunately the dress was unharmed but the shamrocks and the order form she sent were missing. This is the first time this has ever happened with shipping but we use the US Post Office anyway. We cut out and placed just one small applique on the bodice of the romper, hand stitching it on. The overlay of the skirt we recreated in the christening skirt and used the bodice detail as the waistband of the skirt. Buttons were placed on the romper waistband and buttonholes in the skirt waistband. At a meeting with a new customer who saw this outfit decided she wanted the same for her son and another who we had already met with saw it and wanted to change her outfit to the same. We're very pleased (and so was mom) with the outcome.



The christening outfit arrived and I can't thank you enough. I absolutely love the romper and skirt. I can't wait for Kevin to wear it this weekend. I am so glad I found you guys online and can't thank you enough for your responsiveness and turnaround time on top of putting together exactly what we were looking for from a conversion.

Thank you for going above and beyond everything else and including the shamrocks. Knowing that our Riley and Aiden will be a part of Kevin's special day means more than I can tell you

Althea

Althea requested a simple romper for her son with shoes and a messenger cap to complete the look. The romper had just a small button at the top, under the collar and short pants for the summer weather. She sent a picture to us as a sample to follow. To date these were the biggest shoes we had ever made but we we just received an order with shoes for a 1 year old.

 

Special Gown for Lindsey

Our customer Lindsey came to us with a portion of her mother-in-law's gown as well as her mom's wedding gown. Her mom had passed away while Lindsey was on her honeymoon 10 years ago. She wanted a gown for her daughter using both. The bodice was from M-I-L, the skirt from her mom. We removed some of the lace appliques to use on the gown, which was hand sewn on. The rest of the lace will be saved for her sister to use. The pillow is actually is a gift for her M-I-L, incorporates an applique and chiffon and embroidered with her initials and wedding date on the back. It was indeed an emotional day for Lindsey. At her daughter's christening she and her husband will renew their vows since it's also their 10th anniversary weekend and how wonderful that her mother will be a part of it all.

 

Corinne's Fairy Godmother

Corinne's Godmother brought us the grandmother's wedding dress to create her special christening gown.We used the sheer sleeves to make the sleeves but elasticized and puffed them up to make them more fit for a baby. The buttons on the back were placed on the back of the gown. We used the neckline to create her headband. The sheer lace bodice was placed over the satin lining. Godmother chose a more traditional length for the skirt. We hope to get pictures!!

Sweet William

Mom came to us with her gown and requested not only a tuxedo type romper with long pants, but a separate vest, newsboy hat and 3 blankets, 1 for William and 1 for each of her future children. Once her gown was "deconstructed" there was enough fabric for all  these things. Mom's skirt had an overlay of tulle & embroidered appliques. We carefully cut around these appliques and hand sewed them to the blankets and vest using silver embroidery thread. Also on the blankets we embroidered by machine a cross with an oval frame of white and silver.

Baby Victoria

2014 has begun! This look was created, along with matching shoes with date embroidered on the bottom, an embroidered bib with terry cloth backing and to keep Victoria warm, a curly minky jacket lined with mom's gown. The gown was designed with ties in the back to ensure a good fit, although when we tried it on her, it fit perfectly! Mom was thrilled that the dress followed the design of her gown. We can't wait for pics of Victoria from her special day.

 

Happy New Year!!!

Angie and I would like to wish all our family, friends & followers a very Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year!! We started our year off with a bang as Angie's son was married on New Years Eve. Going to be hard to top that one Angie! We are looking forward to a brand new year of creating christening gowns, outfits, blankets, teddy bears and anything else you can come up with out of yours, your moms or even your grand mom's gowns. Christening Outfit for Dillon

This is Dillon's awesome outfit and messenger cap. Mom brought a picture and wanted it copied exactly. It's a one piece with blue trim on the middle, neck and around the sleeves. There's an embroidered piece inside his cap from mom's dress with her wedding date and an embroidered piece with his own christening date inside his outfit. Both were made with fabric from mom's gown. Dillon is 9 months old and this is the largest christening outfit we've made so far. Mom was very happy with the results!

If you scroll through our older posts you'll find mom's wedding dress. We think she looks just adorable and couldn't ask for a better model!!! Mom says she received many compliments on her dress.

Marissa's Girl

Marissa (love the name) came to us with only the bottom of the train of her gown, which she had had trimmed off, so no "before" pics this time. We had to supplement the gown with satin fabric for the bodice and used the train fabric for the bottom of the dress as well as the bonnet. Marissa was so impressed with our results, saying it was "more beautiful than she could have imagined". Blessings on the whole family on this special day!
