Diane-Part II

We love having our mommies return to us. Diane had moved out of state and shipped what was left of her gown to create a boy's vested romper for her new son, a tie that he can wear on his 1st communion day and a veil for her daughter to use on her 1st communion day.  The veil was created out of mom's wedding veil. Basically all the satin was used, but there's still some of the lace overlay left that can be incorporated into a pillow or Christmas ornament. The satin was buttery soft and made a beautiful outfit for her son. Here's what she had to say about her new creation:
You've done it again - another beautiful creation! My son's gown exceeded my husband and my expectations and the veil and tie are just perfect. I have several years before they make their 1st Communion, but I'm excited to have these for them. Thank you for creating beautiful treasures for them. We will send pictures after the Baptism!
 

 

Zoey

From Melinda's gown we created an adorable little gown using the appliqued bottom of the gown, which had to be re-attached in some places along with some of the beads. We took some of the appliques and placed them on the sleeve. Since the shrug had so much going on we decided to only place some of the bodice lace on the bodice of the gown. The shrug used the bottom of the gown on the back and part of the front. We put ties on the gown mainly to help with the sizing of the gown for Zoey. Mom also wanted a shrug, bonnet and shoes...unfortunately I can't find the pictures of the shoes. They were mary-jane type. To put it all in, she also purchased one of our special garment bags made of unbleached muslin and embroidered with her initials. There's a special pocket in the back to hold all the accessories. This was created and a pattern made by Angie. Our research tells us this is the best way to store your heirloom items.

Gabriella

Continuing on with the updates....Mom sent us this gorgeous gown to create a christening dress, headband, shoes and panties for Gabriella. Mom chose puffy sleeves, which we created out of the chiffon and a thinner headband because of all her hair. We couldn't have asked for a better model!

 
 

Beautiful Beads, Beautiful Gown!

 


So, here's the results of the gown with the beads we were working on. The back of the gown shoes the buttons with the beads attached. The bonnet has the chiffon fabric and beading over the satin. The beads were hand sewn onto the bodice neckline and sleeves. The swoop of beading down the side of the wedding gown was also used in the skirt of the christening gown. The shoes have an organza ribbon tie and the beads sewn into a flower on the toe.

Sweet William

Mom came to us with her gown and requested not only a tuxedo type romper with long pants, but a separate vest, newsboy hat and 3 blankets, 1 for William and 1 for each of her future children. Once her gown was "deconstructed" there was enough fabric for all  these things. Mom's skirt had an overlay of tulle & embroidered appliques. We carefully cut around these appliques and hand sewed them to the blankets and vest using silver embroidery thread. Also on the blankets we embroidered by machine a cross with an oval frame of white and silver.

 

In Loving Memory

 Our customer came to us with her mom's wedding gown. Mom had passed away and this was her way of making her mom a part of a very special day for her daughter. Her only concern was that we be able to leave enough fabric for her sister to be able to use someday down the road when she has a child of her own. What a wonderful way to honor a special woman in her life! We were thrilled to be able to help make that happen. God bless!

 

Annalisa

We took mom's gown, using just the satin on the top of the dress, bell sleeves and just a hing of the bling mom had used on her gown. She did not want the ribbon she used so we created the sash and ties also from the satin undergown. An open backed bonnet helps assure a good fit for baby since it's adjustable...although Annalisa was not too happy with it. She did like her shoes and I included a picture of her wearing them. Mom decided she wanted a pillow to remember her dress. There was not much fabric left so we had to make a 10" x 10" size. On the back was embroidered their initials and the wedding date. So, not only do they have a beautiful heirloom gown to pass on but mom has a remembrance as well.

 

 

Shannon's Sweetie

We so much love getting photos from our mommies and don't we dress some of the most adorable babies?? Thanks so much for sharing your pics! Shannon's mother-in-law commissioned us from California to create this outfit from her wedding gown.

 

Baby Beatrice

Mom and Grand mom came to us with grand mom's gown (can you say hello to the 70s?) to have a christening gown, bonnet and shoes made along with a bib. The bib was made from new materials except for the lace, which came from grand mom's veil. The gown was very yellowed and we tried to whiten it a bit with good ole OxiClean. I think they were surprised to see it became a creamy ivory color! The shoes had the christening date embroidered on the bottom. We're happy to report that the family was well pleased with the results...

Katie's Kids

Our mommy brought us her beautiful appliqued tulle & satin dress to create christening outfits for her twins, a boy and a girl. Of course, they're adorable!!! For her son, we created our vested romper with snap crotch. On the vest we applied some of the appliques from her gown. For her daughter, we created a gown with a satin & tulle skirt, satin bodice, used the lacings from the back of her gown as ties and with our favorite, the puffy princess sleeves. He had a traditional boy's bonnet with the full brim. She has an opened back bonnet which has the ability to be sized with the ribbon in the back. Because of the size of her train, we were able to create both outfits with no problem. 

 

Lucas & Leonardo

Twin boys! Adorable didn't come close to describing them! Mom had 2 wedding dresses to work with. From one we took fabric to make the shoes and bibs and from the other their matching christening gowns. The top was tuxedo shirt-like and the bottom was a pleated gown. Mom chose the traditional full brim hats. The shoes are embroidered with the christening date while the bib was embroidered with a cross.We can't wait to get pictures of them!
